The American Water - Military Services Group currently has various positions opened for its Fort Leavenworth facility.  The Fort Leavenworth Facility, a ground water treatment plant that is lime softening, produces approximately 1 million gallons per day.  The plant is staffed for 8 hours per day and operates another 8 hours per day by SCADA.

Primary Role
Responsible for all activities involving the operations and maintenance of the water treatment system and water distribution system (pumps, storage tanks, fire hydrants, etc.) Supervisory responsibilities for water plant operators, technicians, and laborers, and works under the general direction of the Utilities Manager.   
Key Accountabilities    
Prepares, Reviews, evaluates, revises, establishes and implements policies and procedures used in distribution and treatment of water and the collection of wastewater, that result in Safe, Compliant, Reliable, and Profitable operations.  For more detailed information, check the website at amwater.com.

•   Extensive knowledge of the objectives, equipment, and operations of groundwater supply systems.
•   Extensive knowledge of methods and materials of water plant construction and maintenance.
•   Thorough knowledge of the layout, location and equipment characteristics of water treatment systems.
•   Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations for areas of responsibility
•   Must possess a high school diploma or GED, plus at least five (5) years progressively responsible experience in supervision of operations, maintenance and administration of water and/or wastewater systems and treatment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for experience.
•   Possession of Class V License in the State of Kansas
•   Must possess a valid state driver’s license

Primary Role
Independently operates, maintains, repairs and inspects water treatment systems at wells and similar work in the water distribution system (pump stations, storage tanks, fire hydrants, etc).  This includes the collection of water samples per state regulations, recording data and preparing regulatory reports, adjusting chemical feed rates, and other similar duties.  Position will also be required to assist with the wastewater collection system on a periodic basis, and participate in water and sewer main and service repairs.

Key Accountabilities
Operates water system (wells, chemical feed systems, storage tank levels, etc) to provide compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Collects and analyzes samples required for compliance and process control.  Performs maintenance of the water systems.   Perform assigned general housekeeping duties. •   Knowledge of the techniques, equipment and materials used in the mechanical maintenance and repair of related equipment and systems.
•   Possesses a thorough knowledge of well operation and maintenance.
•   Specifically but not limited to knowledge of methods and precautions in storing and handling chlorine and other industrial chemicals.
•   Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
•   Must possess a high school diploma or GED
•   Additional trade specific courses preferred.

Primary Role
To oversee varied engineering assignments and projects associated with capital planning.

Key Accountabilities
Manage multiple projects and perform varied engineering assignments associated with capital planning, design or construction.  Efficient management of sub-contractors including negotiations of sub-contract agreements; delivery of projects on time and within pre-established budgets.  Supervise field and contract personnel to ensure timely completion of assignments, within budget and adherence to standards.  For more detailed information, check the website at amwater.com.

Strong construction management skills, strong construction procurement skills, strong design skills, ability to manage and influence subcontractors and consultants; able to identify the risks & rewards of capital projects; develop capital program strategy and lead capital pricing; ability to work on multiple contracts simultaneously;  strong team player with good relationship & networking skills, strong communication skills both written & oral; Strong understanding and appreciation of Auto CAD/GIS; highly motivated, flexible & enthusiastic attitude.

Knowledge•   Experience with the technical aspects of utility infrastructure.
•   Minimum of Bachelor’s degree preferred.
