Rural Water District #4 of Douglas County, KS is looking for a dependable self-starter to fill our upcoming Operator vacancy. This position is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the water distribution system. They will also be responsible for taking water samples and keeping operational logs so that water can be transported into the system. Hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Flexible work schedule and overtime may be required.
Valid driver’s license, high school diploma or GED required. This position requires a small systems certification or obtaining that certification within one year of hiring. The City of Lebo is seeking applications for a full-time Maintenance Worker.  This position performs water, wastewater, natural gas and general maintenance duties.  Work involves performing tasks and the operation of various mechanical tools and equipment to maintain the sewer system, water system, natural gas system, street maintenance, city equipment, maintain the City buildings, park maintenance and swimming pool maintenance.

Position Title:  Apprentice to Journeyman Lineman         Position Type: Fulltime

Minimum Work Schedule/Requirements:  Monday-Friday, 8 hours a day, 8am-5pm

Primary job function and duties:   The successful candidate must be able to exercise a high degree of self-discipline and independent judgement.   This will be skilled work in the construction and maintenance of the city’s electrical distribution system.  Work will have a potential to be hazardous due to energized electrical circuits, conductors, and accessories.  This position will install and maintain electrical distribution lines, hardware, transformers switches, fuses, insulators, and any related equipment.  Must be proficient in operating an electrical boom truck, winch truck, digger, and any related equipment.  Will maintain the city street light system, remove fells or dangerous trees, limbs, interfering with electric lines.  Routinely check voltage and amps on city electrical lines. Reads electric meters, sets and climbs poles, and operates specialized tools related to the job.  In addition, this position will assist other departments as needed when primary work is slow.  Must attend all safety training and schools required to maintain certification.  Must have the ability to interact with staff, citizens, contractors, and governing body in a professional, courteous, respectful manner.  This position will be on-call to respond to emergencies. 

The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.

Public Works Operator
City of Cunningham (pop. 454) is accepting applications for a Public Works Operator.  This position will work with the City Superintendent and is responsible for all aspects of city maintenance including water, wastewater, streets, parks, city-owned vehicles, buildings, and other property.

Do you have a passion for the environment and water quality? Serve our community as an “Aqua Man or Woman” as a Water Treatment Plant Operator with the City of Pittsburg. The primary function of the Water Treatment Plant Operator I is to perform monitoring, operating, and equipment adjustment for the water treatment process. Operate a wide variety of pumps, valves, pipes and reservoirs used in the water production system, impacting chemical water treatment systems. Monitor chemical dosage levels and operate chemical feed equipment to ensure proper functioning and application of chemicals. Perform light maintenance duties and facility upkeep tasks and other duties as assigned.
The primary duties of work are performed indoors and outdoors which may include working in extreme weather conditions. Work may involve 24-hour availability during emergency situations. This will include overtime and call back situations as required. Work in confined spaces and trench excavations as required.  Must be able to pass a physical, drug screen and background check.

Candidates must possess a G.E.D. or high school diploma and 3 years of relevant work experience; a current Kansas commercial driver’s license with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record, Air Brake Endorsement, Tanker Endorsement, Automatic and Standard Transmission, and OSHA 10 hour certification.  Work is typically performed outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions. This position is a pay grade 7 with an hourly pay range of $12.93 - $20.99 DOE.  Candidates who do not meet the minimum requirements may be considered for an apprentice level position and provided with on the job training to meet required skills and certifications.
