Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Supervises operation and maintenance of equipment
    • Maintains water and wastewater treatment system, streets, parks, and pool
    • Knowledge of and working skills in construction, heavy machinery operations, mechanics, plumbing, and operation and maintenance of equipment is required.
    • Attends monthly council meetings, monthly city workshops, attends scheduled Planning and Zoning Board meetings
    • Serves as the primary Building permit approver 
    • Responsible to see that state and federal requirements for utilities are met.
    • Administers city policies and procedures.
    • Responsible for the maintenance of city buildings and parks.
    • Responds to emergency situations and provides citizen assistance.
    • Coordinates activities between private contractors and city streets, water and sewer departments
    • Other duties as deemed necessary by the Governing Body.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:
    • Be able to do physical labor and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
    • Be willing to work in adverse weather conditions.
    • Obtain OSHA Training as position requires some work with chemicals and heights. 
    • Be able to work weekends and nights.
    • Have or be willing to get the required operator licenses for water system and wastewater treatment within 2 years.
    • Have a valid driver’s license. CDL license is preferred.
    • Obtain National Incident Command System certification through FEMA.
    • Must live in the City of Wakefield or be willing to relocate.
